Too Long...
Welcome to another adventure from the Thousand Acre Woods deep within Trollheim of the NJ Pine Belt! Tales Chronicled by Jonathan Hulton... That' me! Today's tale we find a lovelorn Hulton being consoled by Bjorn; in between playing fetch with Bosco the Bear.
"You know, I'm getting pretty lonely," I said. I felt sorry for Bjorn. Every couple of years he gets to hear me whine.
Yes, I've been lonely—for years!!!
"When you stop looking," he consoled; "they find you."
"Cerebrally, I gave up years ago, but my hypothalamus didn't get the message."
Bosco just ran up. He wanted to play fetch.
Bjorn grew as tall as a pine and ripped up a scrub oak to toss.
"I know, before I met Helgi, I didn't have a date for a century…"
"Oh, come on—you're just trying to make me feel better."
Bosco came back with Knobby in his mouth. Bjorn threw a telegraph pole, and Bosco dropped Knobby, and ran off.
"I'm no better or worse than anyone; maybe that's why I know a few thousand people."
"I know, everyone knows your heart, you get everyone dancing, you're engaging, you thrive in conversing about other's bliss, you're creative, intelligent, you have helped everyone in town expecting nothing, your humor is amazing, your music soothes the soul, you're the most calming person I ever met, you're handsome—and intimidating!"
"Intimidating?"
"Intimidating."
"How?" I asked, dumbfounded.
Bosco came back with a railroad tie as we heard a train derail and a woman scream.
We both paused and stared at Bosco, who sunk his head.
"Too much to lose."
"What?"
"There are few people brave enough to take the risk of breaking their heart with you. Broken souls date more because there is less to lose."
Bjorn threw a millwheel. Bosco scampered off.
"That kind of sucks…especially with my size, skill, and duration!"
"That is a little too much info…"
"I meant my heart."
"Hmmmm…"
"Well, that too."
Bosco ran back with a sack of flour and the Miller's daughter.
Bjorn threw an anvil.
"The heart has its own time, and she probably just needs to allow herself and you to finish something universally important before you can meet. Just keep throwing it out there; you never know what you will catch."
Then Bosco came back with Karl in his mouth.

Following the Harry N. Abrams, Inc. tradition of the series that created Brian Froud's and Alan Lee's Faeries and Gnomes by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet, we present you with what would have been the next book in the series: Trolls: A Compendium. Trolls—do you think you know what they are? Could you be wrong?
Trolls within Scandinavian lore, myth, saga, fantasy, and folktales are actually anything magical within our northern neighbor's culture. Richly illustrated in this volume are the tales of faeries, dwarves, nissen, huldras, gods, Jotuns, draugar, ghosts, and more. Also, this book introduces our readers to the world of Trollheim, populated by Nattrolls that escaped the 17th-century Swedish colony within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Narrated by Christopher Jonathan Hulton, who lives in the Thousand Acre Woods just after the Civil War, their tales are filled with Native American lore and tales of their neighbor, the Jersey Devil.
