"Off to Peggy's?" Bjorn asked Helgi.

"Yes, we need to harvest some comfrey; Grams' back is acting up again."

Bjorn whittling with Helgi leaning in on his chair behind him as they are in their living room with fireplace behind them.

"Tell me again…why do you have to meet her at the witching hour?"

"It's the coldest part of the day and the plant can't perspire as much," Helgi said as she put her cape on and grabbed her distaff. "Plus, it's the full moon and all the fluid is pulled up from the roots into the leaves."

"Well, it is a quarter after midnight," Bjorn shrugged; "you got plenty of time."

"Well, Karl's out," Helgi said, as she raised the corner of her lip. "Its April Fools and I'm not sure I can get there before the new year…"

"Good luck; I'll have breakfast ready when you get back."

Helgi headed out with Bosco and grabbed a second distaff and his harness. When they got outside, she put the distaff between her legs…and rested the other against his shoulder, as she placed his harness on. She took the distaff from between her legs and placed it inside the terrets. Then she took the last one off his shoulder and placed it on the other side and got on.

Helgi placing harness on Bosco outside of their house built into the hill.

Bosco galloped away and flew over the Pines.

Karl walking in the woods with his fingers in his ears.

Flying over Karl's, she was barraged with dung balls. The dung beetle loaded his slingshot cannon as he took aim. Helgi continued over 21 Lakes, smelling fresh.

Karl caught up with them by the time she got to General Howe's old place on the bridge on the corner of Dover and Jones Road. He had given Freya an exceptional necklace in exchange for a pearl necklace and her falcon wings.

Bosco starring at Karl flying with falcon wings.

He almost caught her, but he was sent swirling as the wild hunt flew vanguard for her. Ursa Major winked at Bosco as he ducked Orion's spear. He looked back and saw Artemis smacking Orion upside his head.

Karl flying away quickly from teh Wild Hunt.

Karl distracted Bosco, disguised as a school of jumping trout, crossing over the South Branch of the Mount Misery Brook. As he flew closer, Karl jumped up and farted some dead fish stench at them. Bosco rolled up and away in time to avoid it.

Bosco flying low to catch a fish with Helgi on his back.

They landed just before three in Peggy's garden behind her tavern.

"I'm glad you made it, before the year was out," Peggy smiled.

"Bearly…" Helgi said as Bosco just grunted.

Following the Harry N. Abrams, Inc. tradition of the series that created Brian Froud's and Alan Lee's Faeries and Gnomes by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet, we present you with what would have been the next book in the series: Trolls: A Compendium. Trolls—do you think you know what they are? Could you be wrong?

Trolls within Scandinavian lore, myth, saga, fantasy, and folktales are actually anything magical within our northern neighbor's culture. Richly illustrated in this volume are the tales of faeries, dwarves, nissen, huldras, gods, Jotuns, draugar, ghosts, and more. Also, this book introduces our readers to the world of Trollheim, populated by Nattrolls that escaped the 17th-century Swedish colony within the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Narrated by Christopher Jonathan Hulton, who lives in the Thousand Acre Woods just after the Civil War, their tales are filled with Native American lore and tales of their neighbor, the Jersey Devil.
