check back often to see what free ebooks we will
offer from our catalog and the best of the classics
that are in the public domain.
House Press is located in historic downtown Salem,
Ma. Our offices started in the cupboard under
the stairs in the basement of a the Harry Potter
store at 127 Essex Street. Across the street was
the lot where Ane Bradstreet wrote her novels.
She was America's first Poet and female author.
We are a publishing co-op where the authors have
a hand in the creation, publishing, and printing
of their works. In this way our authors attain
higher royalties than can be offered by the larger
publishing companies. We offer a broad range of
books from children literature, classics, local
histories, politics, poetry, fiction, and graphic
novels. We also delve into the public domain and
return rare gems back into circulation. Like our
Salem Edition of Dante's Divine Comedy. Lushly
illustrated by Gustav Dore with the original Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow transaltion. It is published
in commemoration of the Salem Lyceum being the
first place Longfellow read his translation to
an audience. Our books are available in most book
stores, a favorite of independant book sellers,
and online at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
Our authors are all available for book signings,
lectures, tours and other events. Visit our Facebook
page along with the pages of our authors.
The most famous of our authors' pages is A
Walk Through Salem in which illustrator Chris
Dowgin outlines the process of his illustrations
for his viewers from sketches to finished illustrations.
